Justin Jue Neo Zhen, 46, better known as Master Neo is the Grand Master of KX Geomancy Pte Ltd.

Born the youngest to the newest wife of three, Master Neo had a childhood where he had to fend for himself. With his father being an absent figure and his mother traveling out for work during the weekdays, Master Neo started dabbling in fengshui at the age of nine in order to make some pocket money.

“I had to be independent. My parents were hardly around and I was left alone most of the time.”

Master Neo was eager to start a family of his own and got married at the age of 23. The couple mutually decided on a divorce after having two children together. Despite being happily remarried today, Master Neo maintains a good relationship with his ex-wife and remains actively involved in his children’s lives.

At the core, Master Neo’s business is defined by his turbulent personal life.

“It is all about enhancing people’s lives and that always starts from their personal lives, their relationship with their family. I grew up in a difficult home so I know how important it is.”

Contrary to popular belief, Master Neo believes that fengshui is neither a religion or a superstition. To him, fengshui is a method of assessing and improving the quality of one’s life through observations and analysis of his living environment. He believes that it is a metaphysical science in which one can learn to harness Qi (cosmic energies) naturally present in the living environment to improve specific parts of our everyday lives.

One of the sacred spaces at KX Geomancy is its Jubaoge room. Master Neo comes to offer his respects to the Baosheng Fu, a deity that watches over the unity of families. Followers of Master Neo visit the Jubaoge religiously to meditate or give prayer requests. While Master Neo encourages this, he emphasizes that prayer or fengshui is not a magical fix.

“People come to me because of my practical approach to fengshui. If you are out of a job and not working hard to look for one then fengshui is not going to help you. Coming to find me is not going to help you.”

A picture of his parents sits on Master Neo’s home altar. It was his mother, Han Xiuying’s birthday and the only picture that he has of his parents together.

Despite not physically being around during most of his childhood, Master Neo fondly recounts how his mother would iron and prepare his school uniform on Sundays before she travelled out for work during the weekdays.

The picture stands as a reminder of the importance of family.

“It is the little things that you do at home. I always advise my customers to wish their children good morning. For husbands to remind their wife of their love. Creating harmony at home is the heart of fengshui.”

One of the many families that Master Neo serves is Mrs Hu Wei Hua’s.

Mrs Hu first became acquainted with Master Neo through her husband, Mr Hu. Mr Hu was going through a difficult period when he chanced upon KX Geomancy’s Facebook page. Mr Hu came for one of Master Neo’s weekly sharing sessions and his whole family now follows Master Neo.

“I found Master Neo during a down period of my life. Life got better after following his teachings. I started to really see a change after Master Neo performed the proper burial rituals for my mother.’

After a year-long wait, Master Neo is now helping Mrs Hu with the transfer her father’s urn from Mandai columbarium to Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery - where Mr Hu’s late mother is also at.

Master Neo believes that it is better for the departed souls to rest at Kong Meng San as regular prayers are conducted there.

Master Neo is privy to many intimate moments.

Madam Kwee Xiao Zhu, Mrs Hu’s mother, gets emotional during the ceremony as she recounts memories her late husband, Mr Wu Jin Yuan.

Madam Kwee met her husband when she was 16.

“I will always miss him. We opened a carrot cake hawker stall together after getting married but I closed it after he passed away.”

Mr Wu died at age 62, three months after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Mr Wu was brain dead after three months and Madam Kwee was the one to cut his life support.

“It is important for families to go through this together.” said Master Neo.
